The Regional Cancer Center Foundation

Hard to believe the Foundation is 23 years old. But it’s true.

The Regional Cancer Center Foundation (RCCF) was created in 1988 to support the work of The Regional Cancer Center. Its mission is to raise money and distribute funds to offer support for local patients.

The Foundation offers support by funding continuous education for staff and the medical community, local research, new diagnostic services, and direct support services for patients. Direct services can range from financial support for treatment to a wig or head wrap for patients who cannot afford one.

In the past, grateful patients and family members made donations to the Foundation to financially assist other patients going through cancer treatments. With that, it’s been the hallmark of The RCC that no patient is ever turned away because of their inability to pay. In 2010, $1.3M was awarded to financially needy patients. (In 2009, the total was $1M and it was $500,000 in 2008. It grows significantly each year!) Going forward, however, additional funding will be needed to continue this work.

In addition, with the growing numbers of patients coming to The RCC, we are approaching our capacity in our present building. The Board of The Regional Cancer Center is currently reviewing options for a building expansion. This expansion would include an integrated pharmacy and chemotherapy infusion area. Funds will need to be raised to pursue this building project.

The initiatives listed below have begun to fund these projects.
